Day 227 / Back to School

I went back to school to finish my bachelor’s degree four years ago.  I’m attending St. Edward’s University and I just love it.  Slowly chipping away, taking a course a semester, I have a little over a year to go.

I took the fall semester off after Daddy died.  I didn’t have the energy or the will to focus on school.  In fact, I had several moments where I questioned whether or not to continue.  Thankfully, as my grief lessened and I came to my senses, I remembered my promise to my dad.

While in the hospital, stabilized after his stroke, I told him that I had class that night, but that I would be back the next day to see him.  I don’t know if he heard me, but I knew he was proud of me for going back to school after so many years.  So that night I promised him I would finish.

Tonight was my first night back since then and it felt so good to be back.  I missed it.  I love learning.  I love being surrounded by other adults also pursuing the completion of their degree.  And I love my courses.  Tonight, I’m so grateful for being back at school.
