Day 275 / Upward Mobility

I received a promotion at work that will put my skills to the test and challenge me like never before.  I’m beyond excited!

Today I’m grateful for being given a chance to prove myself on another level, for upward mobility, and most importantly for the support of those around me.

Day 274 / Family Fun at the Air Show

Today Donovon, Ava, and I met Donovon’s cousin and his family at the Air Show at Camp Mabry. It was so great to get out on such a gorgeous day and spend time with family.  Spending time with family means so much to me. These are the times that I cherish. These are the times that I appreciate and hold dear. These are the times that I know I will look back on and be grateful.

What a fantastic day. I can’t help but think about it and smile.

Day 273 / Cancer Survivors

Today I attended the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event in support of cancer survivors, particularly my co-worker’s mother who recently went into remission.

The event made me feel grateful for all the cancer survivors and what they represent – overcoming an illness that tests not only their will and strength, but the will and strength of their caregivers and loved ones.

It was a great celebration today, and I’m so thankful for having participated.

Day 272 / Friday Night Peace and Quiet

I feel like I’ve been on speed the past several days and weeks. There’s been little rest amidst the business of life. Tonight I’m grateful for a little peace and quiet at the end of an intense week. I’m catching up on shows I’ve DVR’d and sipping wine after Ava has gone to bed, Donovon is consumed with a new video game, and Alexa is out with friends. It feels luxurious, and I’m savoring every moment.

Day 271 / The Texan

The Texan is a small local store in our neighborhood. It’s been here for decades and has grown its inventory to include every staple and many other groceries a household might need. It is our go-to for butter, milk, bread, or wine in a pinch.

The clerks there have been there for years. They are truly a delight at the end of a long day or first thing on a Saturday morning. They make me feel like I’ve stepped back into the 1950s when you knew your grocer by name.

I’m grateful for the Texan and hope that it continues to stand the test of time.
