Day 245 / Saturday Afternoon with Ava

Ava and I spent the afternoon together at one of my friend’s son’s birthday party.  I enjoyed the one-on-one time with her and savored her still pre-school-aged state.  She starts Kindergarten in the fall and well, as I’ve witnessed first-hand with Alexa, it all zooms by after that.  The next thing I know, she’ll be graduating from high school. 😦

It all happens way too fast, so I will cherish and be thankful for these Saturday afternoons with My Little Icing-Loving Princess for as long as I can.

Day 244 / Giggling with My Hubby

I love how Donovon and I can still make each other laugh about the silliest things. Sometimes I laugh to myself thinking about us giggling together. It’s absurd, I know, but after close to 25 years together, laughter is very important.

Tonight I’m thankful for our giggles.

Day 243 / Work

As much as I stress about work, I am grateful that I am able to make a good living, to work with some really great people, to learn, to teach, to challenge myself, to challenge those around me, and most of all to help others.

Day 242 / Blue Skies

I can’t quite remember the last time we had skies this blue. I went for a run today and had to stop and take a picture of the gorgeous hue.

I’m so grateful for beautiful blue skies today and for taking the time to fully appreciate them.

Day 241 / Day Date at SXSW

Donovon and I typically avoid the crowds and chaos of SXSW, but today we ventured out to see our friend’s band Starbenders play.

We took the train downtown and explored the goings-on on 6th Street before heading to the show.  They played an awesome set and Donovon and I had a great time.

It was a fun little day date with my hubby, and I’m thankful for it.

Day 240 / Texas BBQ

I think that it is widely known that Texans are serious about barbecue. There are always arguments about where you’ll find the best barbecue. And there are even Texas barbecue tours.

On our way back from the coast, we stopped by my favorite barbecue spot Luling City Market.  In my book, they have the best. sausage. ever.  But I had not tried their ribs before and, oh my, they were freaking awesome.

I’m so thankful for Texas barbecue and that we got to eat at my favorite barbecue spot today.

Day 236 / Vacation

I’m a firm believer that vacations are an absolute necessity. We need time to re-charge, to relax, to really breathe.

So, it goes without saying that I’m so very thankful that we are leaving tomorrow for a brief vacation at the beach. As I do laundry tonight and prepare for our trip, I’m brimming with excitement.

We’re meeting my friend Rose and her family as well as her brother and sister-in-law and their families. Although the weather is not going to ideal, I know we’re going to have a lot of fun.  And I’m in desperate need of a break. I can’t wait!
