Oh how I love movies. Donovon and I have been collecting movies almost our entire marriage. We have well over a thousand in our collection now.
Sometimes it will take us close to a hour to decide which movie to watch. We’ll debate back and forth over genre, lead actor/actress, sequels, etc. Yeah, we’ve got some serious First World problems.
And as I mentioned in my little bio, Donovon and I often speak to each other in movie quotes. It’s like our own little language. Movies are certainly our favorite pastime, one we’ve enjoyed together for many, many years.
My love of movies, however, began long before Donovon and I got together. It began with my Daddy, whose love of movies I inherited. I can remember him taking me to see Return of the Jedi when the line to get in was wrapped around the movie theater. I definitely owe my love of huge blockbuster action movies to him.
And then there’s the comedies. We would laugh like hyenas at National Lampoons Vacation or Police Academy. We’re both easily amused and entertained. It didn’t take much for us to enjoy most any movie.
Movies have been and continue to play a huge role in my life. They are my escape. They help me unwind. And they help me stay connected to those I love and have lost.
Today I watched Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Daddy loved all the Indiana Jones movies and I couldn’t help but think of him and our shared love of movies as I watched it. I’m thankful for movies and all the joy and memories they bring.
